My children are preparing, but for the wrong things. They are staying, but are storing food, water, and weapons. Kinda hard to get your child to walk away from a million dollar home.(california price) Somehow, they just can't accept what science is saying. They are being warned and not taking advantage of it. I need a baseball bat, just to get their attention for a moment.

I have never seen the list so long on USGS. There have been over 50 quakes in California since midnite, my time. That's not counting all that have been in Baja Mexico. Was the Puerto Rican Region the warning?

Looks like the quakes are starting to happen up and down the fault lines. There appears to be some escalation in magnitude. The kids say they are packed and ready to run if things get too tough. But I worry if "too tough" might be too late.

Masterq I hear you, and I wish you and your family all the best of luck.
My son is seriously thinking of getting out here within three weeks.
He's not particularly fearful but missed the family who are out here, and wants to
come out.
Thre are a lot of short home movies about how the Baja 7.2 was felt in southern California.
Here is just one, San Diego surveillance camera. Probably been posting too many videos.
Started a Spanish language Topic here in the West Coast Board, with some quake videos from Baja and Chile.
Meanwhile, the San Diego one ...  - Yowbarb

Foreshocks and Aftershocks
Article #297

by T. Neil Davis

"Some major earthquakes are preceded by earthquakes obviously related to the occurrence of the main shock, the so-called
foreshocks. Laboratory experiments show that as the elastic limits of rocks are exceeded by a stress, the rocks tend to develop
minor cracks before undergoing catastrophic failure. This incipient cracking may be the cause of foreshocks.

So far, seismologists are mostly unable to identify a particular earthquake as being a foreshock, a mainshock or an aftershock
until the sequence is over and hindsight is applied. But some regions do display repeating sequences; there, it may be possible to
use foreshock activity as a prediction tool."

The quakes in Baja appear to be in sequences of 3 or 4. Is this a FORESHOCK? If so, there is one hell of a quake on it's way.

Masterq I am not an expert on foreshocks but based upon what I have read (article posted above) and my instincts - yes
a big one will happen soon.
I am not always right... but right often enough to trust my instincts and am making a concerted effort to get my son out here
now and my daughter who is with me trying to get him out here too.

Barb, I hope he is not as disillusioned as my children are, and think they can run to safety at any time they see fit.  As if nobody else lives out there and the roads and such will be free and clear. I will pray for him to make good decisions.

Masterq thank you so very much for the good thoughts and
prayers for my son and we should all say some prayers for all those who could
be in harm's way...

All The Best,

Dr. Roberts predictions - possibiity of some big quakes in this time period below.
Southern California is one of many which could be 6 or greater.  Doesn't mean it will be
that big....but this guy has good stats on prediction and it could be considered a heads up.
