This is Great info  :D
Here is a few extra things - some may have been on the lists already so sorry if I repeat.

Spare set of keys
Spare reading glasses
Spare sunglasses
Eyeglass repair kit
Maps
Chap stick or Lip balm
Moisturizer
Copies of all important paperwork in waterproof container
Money
Something that will give you hope such as Pocket Bible and a picture of loved ones

Sometimes we forget that we need to care for more than just our physical needs, concider what might help you emotionally, spiritually and mentally also. I've picked up a couple of travel sized games to tuck in here and there too. Might get a small empty journal as well. Also going to get some hot coco mix - wouldn't that hit the spot on a really bad day! These little things can help us get through the big ones.

Mary, lots of good ideas...
I like the thought of the cocoa. Some thermoses with hot water would work, with packets of cocoa and soup.

Freezing or thawing do not create moisture.  Perhaps you are thinking of the water that is released from cells that were thawed after being broken by the expansion of their water content upon freezing.  That can happen when delicate produce with high water content, such as watermelon or lettuce, are frozen.

I was thinking about any moisture in the seeds. I've never stored seeds. Or is there not enough liquid to make a difference?

WellI I just got my seeds too, and I just put them in my storage area with all the other stuff in the "goodies to go" section, in the event of a necessary evacuation.  I hadn't really had time to read it thoroughly upon opening, but I for one, don't plan on storing in the freezer.  I'd be afraid I would end up either forgeting them at a critical time, or I don't know, having some sort of problem with that.  Unless someone here tells me I'm really wrong, I'm just keeping them in my storage room, it's cool, dry, and kept out of the sun.  With the way they are packaged, I don't see a problem with just storing them that way.  I have had some regular paper seed packets actually still work several seasons beyond their original purchase date, without any specific pre-planned storage.  It happened accidentally with a few packets I had that got stuck in a drawer.   After I moved I came across them years later, and figured, why not try it and see if they would grow.  To my surprise, I had about about a 60-70% success rate!

BK,

That was scary!  I'm not EVEN close to being prep'd.  I've got ten adults and one under 7.  I had better get to gathering heirloom seeds.
I'm glad you reminded me!  I still need to place my bulk order, I had only shopped locally for this season's leftovers.  After much research, I think I'm going with the "wholesale bulk pack" available at www.amazon.com currently showing on sale from 49.99, down to 39.99, with shipping to my home only $44.48.  Supplies over 34,500 seeds in 30 varieties.  Several others I compared it with were available through:  www.mypatriotsupply.com
www.non-hybrid-seeds.com
www.hometownseeds.com
(Just to mention a few other choices, I've been debating this for months!)

Umm, for the amount of people you listed though, you might want to order multiples!  (Of course, you may already have chosen your supplier, if so disregard this post)  There's probably more information listed elsewhere here in the TH as well.  And this is just what appeared to me to be the best deal.
Me too!  I also ordered the smaller size one for atleast a partial "test" next spring.  I'll try to report some results then.

OK, as promised, I am reporting some results on the purchased seeds mentioned previously.  (Even though I suppose this conversation should be placed elsewhere, so anyone who feels the need to move it, please feel free to do so).  So far I have had a 100% success rate for the beefsteak tomato and the CA Wonder Green Pepper.  I didn't try any of the others for starting indoors, though I probably will direct plant a few other varieties in addition to the Burpee seeds I purchased locally.  (I got a great deal on those at K-Mart one day, buy one get one free, and have always used them in the past).  I was also pleasantly surprised when I opened everything up to find an alphabetized listing, growing instructions (which I even found helpful, I'm not a master gardener by any means, but not a novice either), instructions on how to save the seeds for future growing seasons and the seeds were marked "packed for 2012 growing season" ( I had been a little concerned about that considering how it was listed on Amazon).  It also included great tips for how to reseal the mylar packaging.   I really couldn't be more pleased!

Hi All, it's not so possible to put everything into one gigantic list. This is an ongoing work in progress...
Here is one among all the lists... Originally by noproblemo2 and I had added in, too.
Will be adding more...incorporating a general food list. Alphabetizing, later.
Note: We have other food lists in the Food topics Finding Foods In All The Right Places, etc.
We also have an extensive alphabetized Barter List in another place in this area.
Willsorr75 SUGGESTED BEAR SPRAY!! and Sunnybug had made some suggestions, adding them in...
Post your suggestions and I will add them in or you can. - Yowbarb
