It looks peaceful on the NWS US Map now. That will change on the weekend:
...

Heavy rain and thunderstorms across the central Plains into the Great Lakes

A slow moving front will bring a risk for strong thunderstorms, heavy rain and local flooding from parts of Texas to the Great Lake States. By Saturday, SPC is depicting a slight chance of severe storms for the central Plains. Rain and high elevation snow will continue from the Sierra to the Rockies, with improving weather arriving this weekend.

Short Range Public Discussion   (Latest Discussion - Issued 2000Z Apr 13, 2017)

Short Range Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
359 PM EDT Thu Apr 13 2017

Valid 00Z Fri Apr 14 2017 - 00Z Sun Apr 16 2017

...Cool and unsettled weather over the northwestern U.S. should begin to
improve by Saturday...

...Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to spread northeastward
across the central Plains into the Great Lakes during the next couple of
days...

...Above normal temperatures will prevail from the central Plains eastward
into the Appalachians...

The weather pattern during the next couple of days will be dominated by a
retreating upper-level trough in the western U.S. while general ridging is
indicated over the eastern two-thirds of the country.  The upper-level
trough that is responsible for the cool and wet conditions over the
Pacific Northwest coast will begin to retreat into Canada during the next
couple of days.  This will bring mountain snow across the Great Basin and
Intermountain West, including the Sierra Nevada through tonight behind a
sharp cold front.  The precipitation will then head farther northeastward
toward the northern Rockies on Friday before gradually tapering off on
Saturday.  On the other side of the cold front, temperatures will be above
normal from the central Plains eastward under the upper-level ridge and a
long fetch of south to southeasterly flow at the surface.  Meanwhile, an
organized area of thunderstorms in the southern High Plains should spread
northeastward across the central Plains, reaching the Great Lakes by
Saturday ahead of the cold front, which is forecast to edge into the
central Plains.

Much of the eastern U.S. will remain under the influence of ridging aloft
as a strong surface high pressure system moves off New England by
Saturday.  This will provide generally fine conditions with above normal
temperatures over the interior sections during the next couple of days.
East of the Appalachians, a persistent east to northeasterly flow from the
high pressure center in New England will keep temperatures near or
slightly cooler than normal along the East Coast.

Isolated Severe Thunderstorms Forecast

Isolated severe thunderstorms with a potential for large hail and wind damage are possible today across parts of the southern Plains into the northern Ozarks. Marginally severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts and hail are also possible from the Ohio Valley into the central and northern Appalachians

Active Pacific Storm Pattern

A series of weak weather systems will continue to bring rain and mountain snow to the western states. As these storm systems move inland, they will produce a chance of heavier showers and thunderstorms. Soils in eastern Washington are currently saturated and additional heavy rains increases the risk of landslides. In the Central U.S., strong to severe thunderstorms are possible.

the Great Lakes...

...Fine weather in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast will give way to showers
and thunderstorms spreading in from the Southeast...

The weather pattern will feature a mostly zonal flow with small
disturbances moving across the country for the next couple of days.  First
of all the unsettled pattern continues to persist in the western U.S. as
moisture from a couple of weakening Pacific cyclones moves across the
region, with rain and high-elevation snow.  The precipitation should last
into Tuesday night before moving east into the northern Plains on
Wednesday.  This break in the precipitation appears short-lived as the
next batch of precipitation is forecast to reach the West Coast during the
day on Wednesday.

The aforementioned moisture from the western U.S. will spread quickly into
the northern Plains and the Great Lakes on Wednesday in advance of a
developing low pressure system in the central Plains.  Rain should become
more widespread in the northern Plains Wednesday morning north of a
stationary front.  To the south of the front, a line of thunderstorms
could form ahead of a dry line in the central Plains Wednesday afternoon
as the low pressure center edges closer.

Meanwhile, drier weather should return to New England down into the
mid-Atlantic on Tuesday as a surface high pressure ridge builds in from
southeastern Canada while showers and thunderstorms linger in the
Southeast near a stationary front.  The dry weather in the mid-Atlantic
will be short-lived as lower-level moisture from the Atlantic will sneak
in under easterly winds, resulting in low overcast with the possibility of
light rain and drizzle later on Wednesday.  Meanwhile, moisture from the
Southeast will spread northward and merge with moisture arriving from the
Great Lakes over the Ohio Valley and the Appalachians.  By Wednesday
evening, northern New England could see the arrival of some wintry
precipitation.
