Daughter recently ordered a movie and she and I and sonny boy watched it too.
Have you seen The Book Of Eli?
This is a post apocalyptic movie. Partway into it, when I realized there was a religious twist to it,
wasn't so sure I would like it but at the end it was actually very tasteful, and actually quite beautiful...
To me more about Judaeo - Christian values than any particular religion. (Universal precepts.)
I won't talk so much about it
for those who have not viewed it yet. Denzel was so wonderful in this...
posting the trailer at the bottom of the page,

let's not forget "The Fourth Kind".  It links us to another race. One we are familiar with, if you believe in the Sumerian Writings.

4th kind... ;D I have noticed a lot of secrets slip out as fiction, entertains the masses, but there is lots of hidden truths in some movies that only those in the know would recognize.

saw eli, i found the end to be a bit of a stretch,

Hi Deathanyl well it was a stretch the ... oops I don't want to talk about the ending... ???
I know what you mean but I feel it is really worth watching... the point is it deals with a world in pieces with just a few survivors. I found it interesting the part when he said the war made a hole in the sky maybe it was something else made the hole in the sky...

Watched the Book of Eli last week. I thought it was pretty good, I did like the ending, that made it worth watching for me.

"The Book of Eli", and "The Road" are both post apocalyptic, or post extinction level event, life. Most of it is really depressing.

I agree they are depressing. Personally I got a little hint that there hope for mankind - in both movies.
Both dealt with the continuation of civilization... it was subtle - but to me, that was there.

This film may be less depressing than some mentioned.  Instead of being about the end of the world, it's about the old ways of surviving in the mountains vs. pressure to give it up and conform to encroaching development, modern ways, etc.  Based loosely upon the Foxfire journals in which students interviewed primitive Appalachian old-timers about the old ways.  With Jessica Tandy, Hume Cronyn, and John Denver.
