More than 120,000 lightnings in 12 hours over England and France as superstorm crosses The Channel!

http://strangesounds.org/2017/05/120000-lightning-strikes-england-france-superstorm-video.html

More than 120,000 lightning strikes were recorded in 12 hours over southeast England and northern France on May 28, 2017, as a superstorm “the size of Wales” swept across the Channel.

Between 6pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday morning there were up to 500 flashes a minute.

Experts described the conditions as an “intense, dangerous supercellular storm”. A supercell storm is the least common — and most perilous — of the four classifications of thunderstorms.

Update:

http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/fatalities.shtml    U.S. Lightning Deaths in 2017: 15

[See more graphs and info on page. July is the worst month. Highest age demographic for fatalities is 30 - 39, 40%
Also 2007 was the worst year, per the graph.
2017 not as bad so far but not all the stats are in from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
We may never know what death was caused by what, in Puerto Rico since aid is so slow in coming. According to someone I know with family connections in Puerto Rico, there are hundreds and hundreds of people who perished in mudslides, floods, lightning, objects blown by winds, roofs falling down, and other events, so people began burying bodies of people in yards. Some would have died from floods, mud, lightning, or lack of water or medicine we may probably never know and it will take a long time to sort out.

2007 was the worst year.]

As PX approaches its effects become more ominous ..

Anomalous storm complex creates 50,000 lightning strikes and record rains in Western Australia!!

http://strangesounds.org/2017/10/50000-lightning-strikes-western-australia.html

A complex and anomalous low pressure system has brought widespread showers and thunderstorms to south-west Western Australia, with storms producing more than 50,000 lightning strikes.

A storm manifested itself as hyper-local pockets ejecting 600 lightning strikes in two hours in parts of Auckland while other parts stayed rain and lightning free!!

http://www.thebigwobble.org/2017/11/a-sudden-storm-has-sprung-surprise-on.html

A sudden storm has sprung a surprise on Auckland, with barrelling thunder, hundreds of lightning strikes and large hailstones thumping the region on Tuesday.

MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Northland, Auckland, Waikato and the Coromandel.

There were 870 lightning strikes recorded across the country between 11am and 4.45pm, with 600 of those in Auckland, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm a MetService spokeswoman said.

Earlier today residents were warned to stay indoors if they heard thunder.
A large number of lightning strikes prompted Niwa to issue a warning to get off the water.

The storm manifested itself in hyper-local pockets, with some Aucklanders not experiencing any of the rain, hail or thunder that struck other parts of the city.

Last week reports of a flash Storm lasting "two intense minutes" devastated an Australian town without warning blowing washing machines and dryers down the street.

A lightning strike ripped a hole in the roof of the Kurri Kurri Hotel and did it so rapidly that patrons didn't even have time to get off their stools.
