Massive Sinkhole in Michigan Displaces 24 Families!!

http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2016/12/massive-sinkhole-in-michigan-displaces-24-families-has-ties-to-corruption-3456947.html

At least 24 families in Michigan got something they most certainly did not want for Christmas this year: a massive sinkhole in their neighborhood.

Two hours later, she had trouble opening the doors in her Eberlein Drive home — the frame of the house had begun to shift. Albu called the police. Her home was sinking into the ground.

“We were out,” Albu, a business analyst, told the Free Press Saturday evening. “I mean, it was just trying to grab what we could to salvage it.”

Residents who have been evacuated will not be able to return to their homes for at least two weeks, officials say. That is, if they have homes left to return to.

Evacuation in California after massive cracks appear in the street, driveways and sidewalks in new development in Rancho Santa Fe

http://strangesounds.org/2017/03/evacuation-in-california-massive-cracks-street-driveways-sidewalks-new-development-rancho-santa-fe.html
Homes in a Del Dios development near Lake Hodges were evacuated after after massive cracks appear in the street, driveways and sidewalks.

A huge mass of earth is being pulled by gravity down slope. Consequently homes are sinking… And if this ‘landslide’ suddenly cracks a natural gas line, you can asphyxiate and that has already happened!

Behind security gates is a newer development called Cielo with magnificent views and million-dollar mansions built on steep hilltops. But the earth beneath at least three of them is starting to shift.

In the 18000 block of Avenida Apice, cracked sidewalks and pavements forced evacuations.
According to geologists, what they are experiencing is an arcuate failure or pull away service where this mass of earth is being pulled by gravity down slope. Such slides are home destroyers. They are slow-moving, but still dangerous.

The cause of the sinking has not been identified. (But we know don't we..)

"We Don't Know What Happened" St. Louis Officials Clueless As Downtown Sinkhole Swallows Car!

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-30/we-dont-know-what-happened-st-louis-officials-clueless-downtown-sinkhole-swallows-ca

In a development that should send a chill down the spine of every citizen of St. Louis – especially considering the city’s efforts to revitalize its violence-plagued downtown – a sinkhole spontaneously appeared in the city's downtown, swallowing a car that had been parked street side.

And even more concering, city officials say they have no idea how it happened. (But we know here don’t we..)

Vincent Foggie, of the city's water division, said the hole was missing mounds of dirt that normally support the road's asphalt-topped concrete. He called such voids large enough to swallow a vehicle a rarity in the city.

"We don't know what happened," Foggie said. "I have no idea where the dirt went."

St Louis resident Jordan Westerberg parked his car on sixth street downtown near the railway exchange building on Thursday morning as he and his fiancée headed to an early morning workout at a gym nearby.

When he returned shortly before 7 a.m. local time, his Toyota Camry was nowhere to be found. Westerberg and his fiancée said they figured it had been towed.

Then, they saw a gathering of street workers near their parking space, tipping them off that something wasn’t right. That's when Westerberg, 25, found the vehicle in the gaping hole - about 20 feet (6 meters) deep and 8 to 10 feet (2.5 to 3 meters) across - that took up the entire southbound lane of the street, next to a vacant building expected to feature apartments, office space and retail, according to the Associated Press.

Not a good “survival zone”!!

We do not know when it will stop;' Pasco sinkhole continues growing

http://www.abc10.com/news/depression-forces-lake-o-lakes-neighborhood-to-evacuate/456687058

LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. – A massive sinkhole continues to grow in Land O' Lakes in Pasco County, taking at least two homes and plenty of property with it.   One more home is in danger, and officials say they don't know when it will stop getting bigger.

Authorities received a phone call about a depression around 7:20am Friday.  It quickly grew into what officials confirmed was a 225- to 250-foot wide sinkhole is in the 21800 block of Ocean Pines Drive.  The hole is 50 feet deep.

LINK: Settling your sinkhole claim

Aside from the two homes it's destroyed, crews have evacuated 11 other homes nearby.   During a press conference Friday afternoon, county officials said they didn't know when it was going to stop growing.  A third home is in danger.

The sinkhole is about 200 feet from a lake.  If they connect, there's a big concern over contamination.

"Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone in this community," said Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco.  "This is Mother Nature and we don't know where it's going to go."

Officials tell us a sinkhole has opened up in this same spot before.  They say the homeowner opted to not get it fully repaired.  The only way to do that is to fill it with concrete.

A giant crater opens up out of nowhere in Brazil !

http://strangesounds.org/2017/11/giant-crater-brazil-pictures.html

Farmers in Coromandel in Alto Paranaíba, Brazil were surprised by a giant crater, measuring more than 20 meters in diameter, that appeared without notice in one of their soybean plantation between Nov. 5th and 6th. Now look at the pictures and tell me how the guy was feeling after discovering the profound chasm in the Earth: So lucky… Yes so lucky to still be alive!

As we have seen before, this sinkhole displays an unusually symmetric roundness to the inner core, so makes one wonder what is going on below that caused the collapse of the soil above it?

Could this be a small patch directly above one of the D.U.M.B.'s, where construction or other work is going on?

Good grief! I hope it is not caused by some external group...
I'm thinking not but who knows, based on the symmetrical quality of some sinkholes...

Sinkholes worry me more than most phenomena...
I mean, not sitting and thinking and worrying over it, but it's such a crap shoot  apperantly on where they will happen.
I say everyone continue to research karst in your area, for anyone purchasing survival land and anyone placing a shelter.
I hope everyone who places a survival shelter manages to avoid having it swallowed up or partially sinking down... some resources:

Barb, Your second link has some really nice clickable maps that are enlargeable - good resource!  :)

Missouri seems to be uniquely endowed with karst more than the rest of the country, especially limestone.  That would also be consistent with the caverns there I suppose.
