Thank you so much for this great information. I am looking into it today.

You're welcome!
I will continue to post land purchase ideas, with the understanding I do not know what companies are best and not plugging any particular one. Members can post their ipinions, or what they know about various companies. As time goes on we will have more companies listed more ideas, and more of an idea which are best, and what is a fair price.
One thing is sure as 2012 approaches some of the land will disappear. There were two missile bases sold off recently from that Peden site. (Posted somewhere above but here it is again,

Here's one Ozark Land Company http://www.ozarkland.com/

I also posted Ozark Land co in the Topic, Ozark Meeting Place...

Randomly posting a few items I find. One for now.
I cannot guarantee the validity of the sites, nor the safety of the locations.
If I post it, it looks like a possibility. Not sure if this is near a potentialy active volcano. By the county map it looks like it is not so close to one.

This are from Live Auction.com   http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/8204202
They posted one from GovernmentAuction.com

This is in northern Nevada. 640 Acre, Humboldt County, NV

NV LAND, 640 AC. $129,441@$1,297/mo   "This superb parcel is located in Humboldt County, Nevada. This is a great location with open space--there is a lot of room for various uses of land. Industries providing employment in Humboldt County: Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting and mining (24.6%), Educational, health and social services (14.5%), Arts, entertainment, recreation, accommodation and food services (13.2%), Retail trade (12.2%).
Winnemucca is only a short drive away."

Here is one that is not as cheap, but perhaps more isolated and greener.

"BUCKING HORSE RANCH 12 mi w of Ekalaka. Home of the world-famous Tooke Rodeo Company. Comfortable, older ranch home, barn, corrals & shop on 240 ac. Views of Powder River Breaks & abundant wildlife make this a desirable property. End of road privacy. This won't last long. $425,000"

From http://www.landwatch.com/Carter-County-Montana-Ranch-for-sale/pid/917922 .

You might find some good leads on the Land Watch site.

Basically the deal I had worked out with landowners was to rent their land for a share of harvest.  I think many would be willing to rent land for cheap just to have someone on it.  It is nothing here to see a hundred acres that is just vacant.  A lot of people just want to have the land worked so it doesn't go fallow.  The precise terms would be worked out with individual owners.  But I found a lot of interested landowners.  Obviously being people they was a wide range of interest.
One of my biggest source for contacts was www.alaskaslist.com.  Farm and garden section.

Alaskanwinter thanks for sharing this info. This is a valuable contribution. - Yowbarb

Yowbarb's Question To Members:
Is anybody having success, getting some of these landowners to allow tenants to
build their survival shelters?
Minimally they would have to be able to construct a small dome or other reinforced cement structure.
They would probably have to set in a couple of steel containers for their vehicles, tools, seeds and other supplies; in some cases, domestic animals. They would need to set in a couple of cement structures for their propane tanks and one for gasoline.
I am thinking there must be some people who would be willing to do this. The idea is, many people will not have the money to purchase
land, but they could scrape up a wad of money to rent off a portion, say in a few years lease. The lease would have to protect the tenant
because that would be quite an investment to create the shelter. Maybe the "carrot" could be survivor tenants could help clear away and renovate the owner's entire property after the worst of the earth changes over. (Big job: Clearing away, digging up soil and putting in some substances which would detoxify up the soil. (Perhaps algae and seaweed, as I have mentioned in other topics.) Then the process of putting down more topsoil, some fertilizer, watering and planting.  It would be a challenge -  and people living on the land could be a big help.
Ideas anyone?

I've been having dreams 2-3 times a week about this 28 acre place down the road from me.  I could really do some of my bigger plans with that land!  I really wish I could get it, but don't know where to get the $$ for it yet.  :(

To augonit,
Alaskanwinter posted some interesting ideas in Northern Meetings, on renting off a portion of  land.
I just copied his post here in this Topic along with some ideas and questions.
Best O' Luck and keep on keepin on,
Yowbarb

I'm hoping people can find plots of land - not all cutesy - not in some subdivision. Remote enough so that there are no restrictions on building. At the same time it needs to be near electricity. Even if the grid eventually fails will need it during the whole building evolution...
while installing other sources of power...
Members please share your ideas.
"No restrictions" may be a rare thing indeed.
I don't want someone breathing down my neck...
Ideas?

Barb,
If you can invest in a portable generator so that you have elec. on site till you can get some other means to power the place up. That way you are not as limited on your choices.

It would be a shame not to take the perfect spot because there was no power and if you are using a steel container all you have to do is roll the generator inside and lock it up while  you are moving back and forth.
