I was pursuing a website the other day and found a link for "Tiny Houses".  I think this would be one way to get an inexpensive shelter on your land.  It might not survive the pole shift, but would provide a base in the meantime where one could live or even go to on weekends and prepare gardens, plant fruit trees, etc in readiness for the shift.  I myself would love to own one, especially since I have a big interest in minimalism, I am not a radical, but I have downsized into a compact one bedroom apartment and have come to realize I could actually be happy living in something much smaller.  I think it is important to face the fact that we are a nation of excess, and we could free up a lot of extra cash by downsizing.  Soon we may have no choice anyway.

Endtimesgal_2012,
Those tiny houses are fascinating! I posted something about them in a topic awhile ago (I think it was about "Aftertimes" buildings.) For some reason I really like the thought people could have some house of their own even if it is tiny.  ;D I do know for a fact people can get use to less space. It would help if the climate is comfortable, allowing for a person to be outside sitting and cooking etc. a lot of the time...

BTW one Ebay ad I had posted in the Ebay topic had a tiny cabin on it.

I have posted some three four places to view and possibly buy, survival land. These are in the survival website topic. Some of the sites posted are Land Central, Cheap Land and Survival Land.
We also have an EBAY topic about land ads, along with survival goods for sale on EBAY.

This topic will mainly be the land sale sites listed above, but I will post more if they seem promising.
Members, please feel free to post any land sale sites you find and also post any ideas you have on land ads, companies, etc.
- Barb Townsend     Example of one ad for now, Land Central.  Might be big enough for underground shelter if zoning is OK. Near lakes. Would be best if not at same level with the water. Research needed.

Barb, since I don't live that far from Lake Harmony, I thought I would provide just a little more information here.  The area is beautiful, and quite a bit of land can be found for short money (though I have to admit the one you posted is the lowest I have seen).  Several years back I owned a house in one of the private communities not far from there.  The Holiday Poconos one is not that far from Lake Harmony.  One thing you do have to be very careful of is the "rules and regulations" on these communities.  Holiday Poconos was one of the better ones, not being as strict as some of the others.  The one I lived in only charged about $360/yr annual dues, always check what the cost of the annual dues are and what restrictions they have.  Certainly this lot would be great for a small cabin/house, probably far enough away from a major concern of flooding, and most people keep to themselves (most use them just as summer places), and I'm pretty sure you could fit a small underground shelter of some sort without a problem.  Like you had so, make sure to do the research and ask all the pertinent questions, so you don't end up with any unwanted surprises!

Hi Mary yes very true about people needing to know the fine print on many properties. The CCRs and zoning laws can make it impossible to survive, literally. Well here is all I have from the ad: You use the contact info, email and enter the description of ad and # Mt. Pocahontas, PA lakes and forests.
#5787
I hope that is enough info for them to get in touch with you and give the restrictions etc.
Let me know if this works,
Barb

Marshall Illinois Retreat
http://www.survivalrealty.com/2012/08/marshall-illinois-retreat.html

A perfect spot to build your retreat: 40 acres rated “SSS” (secluded, self-sufficient) and teeming with life!

Asking $215,000.

40 beautiful acres located approximately 7 miles ESE of Marshall, IL (Pop. 3884).

Property is landlocked with a permanent easement - not visible from any road. Far enough from town to be secluded but close enough to make supply runs (by horse or foot, if necessary).
Diverse contour of terrain provides great choke points for defense/traps and LP/OP
WONDERFUL 5 acre pond chock full of big, healthy fish including bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Spillway of pond has about 15 feet of drop with following downhill grade - potential micro-hydro site!
Perfect slope with southern exposure overlooking pond; the perfect place for a passive solar PIP concrete or underground home! Great sun exposure perfect for solar system!
Rich, 2 acre plowed garden plot on high ground
Remainder of property in MATURE hardwoods producing great mast, including lots of White Oak, Red Oak, Hickory, etc.. Endless supply of firewood, lumber and rails!

Big deer, turkey and small game ABUNDANT! You will definitely need to fence your garden (and then harvest the hungry deer).
Newer 30x40 foot steel barn with concrete floor and elect. on property. Also an older steel outbuilding.
Electricity and country water already running to the site.
Redundant well on site with hand pump. Good water!
Water sources all on highest elevation; Perfect for gravity-fed water system!
4 good seasons here - enough snow to keep the lookers out, but not enough to make a hard winter.
With some good fencing, would be perfect for cattle, meat/dairy goats, hogs and chickens
Perfect stage for you to build it up as you want it!
Cons:

I personally think Idaho would be a great location for a survival place.  I used to live just outside Boise and have camped all over the place within 100 miles.  It is beautiful with abundant water, trees, and actually reminded me a lot of central Oregon in many ways.  There are also lots of hot springs there, so I am sure there are volcanoes which could wake up, that is the only drawback that I could see, but I personally believe there are volcanoes in many places in North America that we are no longer aware of.
