The "East South Central US Region"

East South Central US Region
We don't have this area set up on the Town Hall as a Region of the United States, but I feel it is important partly because of
The New Madrid Seismic Zone (See farther below) whiich includes states in the East South Central US region.

Sometimes it's difficult to name a state as being part of a definite region, and there are different
opinions. This is debatable, but here it is, from the US Census regions:

This is dark red on the US map below:

Wikipedia:
The East South Central States constitute one of the nine Census Bureau Divisions of the United States.

I feel it's important to name this part of the US as a "Region." For the purposes of this discussion - it can include other
states nearby - but this Topic is mainly about the South.

The New Madrid Fault Line could affect a larger area than what is described below, but this is what is known as the NMSZ.

The New Madrid Seismic Zone Map shows the states of Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee. However, a quake in this zone can affect other states.
"Earthquakes that occur there potentially threaten parts of seven U.S. states: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi."

March 22 Update: We now have a separate Topic here in the South Board, it's on the New Madrid Seismic Zone and general area, where the specific info on earthquakes can be posted.

I know when I first joined it was a little confusing on where I would post (Kentucky).  Should I start posting here?  Thanks

Yowbarb:
Archangel maybe that's a good idea.

Residents of the east south central US:

You might want to look at Moderator Lori's post over in her Gaia's Growing Pains Topic.
Earthquake Prediction.
Here is the link - this is a heads up for the region and worth reading. Someone from
FEMA.
It's about the region in general and the New Madrid Fault...
