is good to use tried and true ultra low tech. Parts and fuel for stuff that can be done by hand will be vital if it is a complete restart of our infrastructure. Stockpile food, water, hand tools and seeds{{:>)

Yes, true it's a good idea to emphasize low tech....

To reiterate, concrete canvas shelters - sounds like a good idea.
YouTube Video, from a UK company.  This would need  electricity - such as a generator since it uses a fan and a high power hose. - Yowbarb

Concrete Canvas Shelters are rapidly deployable hardened shelters that require only water and air for construction. Visit www.concretecanvas.co.uk for further information. A 25sqm model can be deployed by 2 people without any training in under 40 minutes and is ready to use in under 24 hours

Very small, but a family of three did live in the house recently for 18 months. There are cedar trees growing out of the roof.

If you think old wood pallets are garbage, think again.

The Canadian Wood Pallet & Container Association has launched a campaign to encourage people to recycle and reuse wood packaging material.

Since the depression started in '08. the folks living in the remote areas of the Mohave have really been cleaning up the scrap steel i.e. abandoned cars & appliances. Taking the steel to the scrap yards for cash. However, there is a bigger problem with used tires. NOW, I believe the tires can be used for green shelters in the future.
You have been telling people that this is the 11th hour.

Now you must go back & tell people  this  is  "The Hour" .
