One of my favorite old poems - mainly because there was something about the content that riveted my attention.
Text of poem farther below...  A lot of people call the poem "Xanadu" because
it is about Xanadu. A place I feel existed and belongs here in Ancient Civilizations Topic. It matters naught to me that the poet was
on opium at the time, for a medical condition, he said. To me, this seems like a vision.
(Wikipedia has more info on that.)...I posted Image of Samuel Taylor Coleridge is in Linda's Topic, Adult Indigos

.............................................................
"Kubla Khan; or, A Vision in a Dream: A Fragment" is a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, which takes its title from the Mongol and Chinese
emperor Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty. Coleridge claimed he wrote the poem in the autumn of 1797 at a farmhouse near Exmoor, England, but it might
have been composed on one of a number of other visits to the farm. It also might have been revised a number of times before it was first published in 1816. "       http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubla_Khan

KUBLA KHAN

  In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
  A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
  Through caverns measureless to man
    Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round:
And here were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
  Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
  Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
  Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail,
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail:
And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.
Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran,
Then reached the caverns measureless to man,
And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean:
And 'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
  Ancestral voices prophesying war!

From the magazine issue dated Mar 1, 2010
They call it potbelly hill, after the soft, round contour of this final lookout in southeastern Turkey. To the north are forested mountains. East of the hill lies the biblical plain of Harran, and to the south is the Syrian border, visible 20 miles away, pointing toward the ancient lands of Mesopotamia and the Fertile Crescent, the region that gave rise to human civilization. And under our feet, according to archeologist Klaus Schmidt, are the stones that mark the spot

Göbekli Tepe, is a hilltop sanctuary erected on the highest point of an elongated mountain ridge some 15 km northeast of the town of Şanlıurfa, in southeastern Turkey and 500 miles away from Istanbul, Turkey. It is the most astonishing archaeological discovery in modern times and also thought to be the oldest advanced civilization on Earth.

This is a reconstruction of the meso-/ neolithic temple site of Göbekli Tepe. The site itself consists of several circular temple structures although I chose to do only one. The music I composed with Music Maker 2008.
:
I designed it with Google Sketch Up. Which is why there are no reliefs on the stone pillars, cause I haven't figured out how to post a pic without it being a continuous pattern (notice the 'Sky' in the back).

I think there is a lot of wisdom in the ancient civilizations.

Yes, indeed.  What is also fascinating to me is the possible methods of survival some human groups used such as these caves. Also I wonder what events were occurring at the time and how they fared ...
Also wonder how some of the ancient structures, methods could be translated into modern concepts...
When I look at the caves in the photo above, it gives me an idea like a group of domes, not only reinforced concrete, but set onto a connected concrete platform. It seem like that would lend more strength to the entire group of domes... it could get complicated due to the need for wiring, drainage etc. but there are probably builders who would know how to do this...

I just found this online... free patent...
Everyone needs to check these things out and determine how they would hold up to earth changes. Well i should post this in the bunker and dome topic too...(survival websites board.)

Yowbarb Note: This is the largest ancient temple ever discovered in Indonesia, but apparently it is not
as "ancient" as I had imagined. Initial reports are saying it is from the 13th - 15th Century. Not sure if they did the carbon dating yet...

Workers discover remains of ancient temple in Indonesia
Published October 26, 2012
Associated Press

BALI, Indonesia –  An archaeologist says a structure that is believed to be the remains of an ancient Hindu temple has been unearthed on Indonesia's resort island of Bali.
Wayan Swantika of the local archaeology agency says workers digging a drainage basin last week in eastern Denpasar, Bali's capital, at first discovered a large stone about 3 feet underground.
Excavation teams have since uncovered a 62-yard structure that is believed to be the temple's foundation.
The find is still being analyzed, but given the shape and characteristics of the materials used, Swantika says he believes it was built sometime between the 13th and 15th centuries. He added that it is also thought to be the largest ancient temple ever discovered in Bali.
