Unfortunately when I do a google search I do not find many dome rental communities. Other than the ones from Monolithic from 2014.
Anyone know of some to post here, please do!!
That could be a matter of life and death for people, to be able to go quickly rent a place and get in out of the coming storm...

Well I just found this site, with listings by state, will have a look:

Often when I see domes for sale or rent there is too much glass and too many ways for it to be broken into, or for wind to destroy...Most of them would need to be modified... Doors and windows need to be quickly fortified from the inside...

Hi All, just a quick note, not finding any new news about dome communities.
Too bad, because that might provide some much needed shelter at the last minute...
If I had a few extra billion laying around I would build lots of dome communities, inland in what seem safer zones, and I would be sure to include  the means to cover windows from the outside and also good barricanes inside for all windows and doors.
No point in having a good geodesic design if the wind blows the door right in, so if you have a dome, find ways to barricade all openings from the inside...

The school near us that upgraded their buildings about 10 or so years ago consists of three rather large domes, but I don't recall seeing windows.  There might be one, incorporated into the door, but I have a strange theory about that school, whose design seems too progressive for this area.

Decades ago, before we moved here, I read an article in the newspaper about a crop circle that was formed in a field in Belgrade, MO.  I knew a tiny bit about crop circles then, but they were a relatively new phenomenon back then.  Anyway, the long article even had a picture of the crop circle and I was so fascinated that I kept the article and it has to be around here somewhere.

OK, fast forward to about 10 or so years ago and this new school in Belgrade, MO is built, primary, junior, and high school buildings, and they are these dome buildings of which I speak.  My theory is that somehow the memory or knowledge of the information encoded in that crop circle was somehow transferred into the consciousness of some around here, and thus the choice of building style.  Those school buildings are probably going to be able to hold a lot of people, and will be safe from tornadoes, storms, flooding, quaking, super-hail, and marauders.

I did post the pic a year or so ago--somewhere here on this site.

What a fascinating coincidence Ilinda!

It looks as if you might have intended to post a photo on this thread:

Thanks for that link and reminder that I apparently never got around to posting the pics.  They were on my computer for the longest time, waiting to be posted.  I don't see them on desktop now, but will search the innards of this thing!

I searched high and low, finding nothing, so did the next best thing--searched the internet!  Attached are four pics that give an idea of buildings that are resistant to many threats.

ilinda, thanks very much for your post and pics.
Re Dome rentals: I have not seen any sign of dome rentals communities, not since those I had posted years ago.
If anyone sees ads for dome rentals, groups of domes available to rent that would be great to know. That way, people can go to those for shelter. As long as the doors and windows are secured properly from the inside, when high winds come up. Most domes, as is, do not have the proper reinforcing structures to hold the door from blowing in, same with most windows. A thick deeply- recessed plastic window is best. That is the type of window that stood up to Katrina in that Mississippi town. That Baptist Church was only thing standing for a long ways around and the congregation survived Katrina inside of it.
