pbutter, thanks for posting the diagragm and info.
I did the Heimlich maneuver once on the neighbor's Siamese cat Sam. My kids ran into the house saying, "Mommy -  Sam choked on a bone and is in our yard." I ran out as fast as I could one of the kids said Sam had a chicken bone in his mouth. He was sitting down on all fours motionless, his tongue slightly out. He wasn't unconscious but he wasn't breathing. I hollered for the neighbors but they didn't hear me. I gave him a jab between the shoulder blades then did the Heimlich under his abdomen and soon something came out of his mouth. He was breathing then and got up and walked away. I told our neighbors about Sam and they were very grateful.
