Good grief! I hope it is not caused by some external group...
I'm thinking not but who knows, based on the symmetrical quality of some sinkholes...

Sinkholes worry me more than most phenomena...
I mean, not sitting and thinking and worrying over it, but it's such a crap shoot  apperantly on where they will happen.
I say everyone continue to research karst in your area, for anyone purchasing survival land and anyone placing a shelter.
I hope everyone who places a survival shelter manages to avoid having it swallowed up or partially sinking down... some resources:

Barb, Your second link has some really nice clickable maps that are enlargeable - good resource!  :)

Missouri seems to be uniquely endowed with karst more than the rest of the country, especially limestone.  That would also be consistent with the caverns there I suppose.

As we have seen before, this sinkhole displays an unusually symmetric roundness to the inner core, so makes one wonder what is going on below that caused the collapse of the soil above it?

Could this be a small patch directly above one of the D.U.M.B.'s, where construction or other work is going on?

Good question...

Earth wide open in Peru: 60 families evacuated as giant cracks completely perforate the region of Cuzco

http://strangesounds.org/2018/03/earth-wide-open-in-peru-60-families-evacuated-as-giant-cracks-completely-perforate-the-region-of-cuzco.html

This is terrifying! Yes, the residents of Lluto, a small community located in the province of Chumbivilcas, department of Cusco, Peru, is literally cracking up, with dozens of huge and growing cracks in the ground swallowing up houses, fields and probably soon people. The fissures expand everyday, leaving always less place for inhabitants to live around. 60 families have already been evacuated… And the rest of the population is living on high alert.

Hundreds of residents of the rural community of Lluto in Chumbivilcas – Cusco are living on high alert after a dramatic landslide and the resulting , still expanding cracks have destroyed several homes and are now threatening cultivation fields and thus the life of dozens of other residents.

Max, those are some of the worst fissures I've seen.  The story refers to them as "large cracks," but "chasms" might be a better word.   Will add a link to your post on the "Fissures" thread, as well as putting the area on the prayer list.  Thanks for your good work on this!

Russian villagers terrified as 105-foot-wide sinkhole - deep enough to fit a 16-storey building inside - suddenly opens up in a field near their homes

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5999003/Russian-villagers-terrified-105-foot-wide-sinkhole-opens-near-homes.html

Mushroom pickers from a Russian village suffered 'shock' when they saw how a 165 ft deep hole had opened up in front of them.

The crater - some 105 ft wide - is deep enough to fit a 16-storey building.

While no-one was hurt, children in nearby Neledino village in Nizhny Novgorod region are having nightmares that similar sinkholes could swallow their homes while they are asleep, say locals.

Russian emergency experts say the phenomenon is natural - and was not caused by explosions or eruptions as were similar-looking holes in the Russian Arctic.

My guess is that one's a good candidate for being a plasma strike or DEW rather than a karst collapse, being that it's so straight, deep and smooth.  Any thoughts on it?

That was my thought too (when I saw how precise and regular) was the shape of the hole itself ..

This story was posted in February, but it is likely the difficult situations are still going on:

'Monster' sinkhole could cost Knox County $100K or more

Matt Lakin, Knoxville News Sentinel Published 7:00 p.m. ET Feb. 27, 2019 | Updated 8:22 p.m. ET Feb. 27, 2019

A day after the ground gave way on Greenwell Road, Knox County officials say they've caged a monster sinkhole — the county's biggest single expense after the weekend's historic rainfall.

Filling the hole in North Knox County will probably carry a price tag of around $100,000-$110,000, said Jim Snowden, director of public works and engineering. County crews dealt with five other major road repairs, including a collapsed slope on Everett Road in Farragut. That's not counting the interstates and major highways overseen by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

"We're still collecting information, but right now we're guessing it'll be in the neighborhood of $35,000 for everything else," Snowden said. "Most of that we hope will be reimbursed by emergency grants."

The road could reopen by the middle of next week, he said.

Plugging the hole
The hole spanned about 5 feet when a woman spotted it at the road's edge Tuesday around noon. By Wednesday, the hole covered half the road and measured roughly 30 feet by 30 feet — "a monster," as Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs dubbed it in a tweet.
