Can't thank you enough for posting this!  Lately I've been working in the garden, including this morning several hours.  The only skin exposed to sun was back of arm above elbows, but with those numbers, we would be wise to just stay indoors or cover up completely if possible.

I have run around in short sleeved shirts so much and no hat, my excuse is a hat won't fit over my hair dooley bob dealie, top of my bun on my head. Ponytail-bun/twist etc.
Well, gonna cut the hair into a bob and wear a hat all the time, I guess. I will put on long sleeved shirts for outside.  I am not sure how long a person can stay outdoors even covered up. That healthy lifestyle and food would tend to make a person less cancer prone.
Re the numbers, I didn't think your state had that number very often, yes I would check it...

Thankfully, the UV Index is so much lower now, in the Continental US. :) Seasonal, partly.

Very interesting map, Barb, and thanks for that.  We periodically read about all the intense UV now entering our atmosphere, but without a map such as yours, one would never know much about intensity at various locales.

ilinda, yes the map is very helpful... I used to not pay much attention to UV Index, but since my kids and I moved to FL two daughters and I have had skin cancer...
Sorry to say we just weren't careful enough.
