There was a R1 Radio Blackout...no geomagnetic storm just now. No warnings posted.

Yowbarb Note: There was an R2 Radio blackout. M2 solar flares. 0215 AM EDT Update M2 for both 6 hour and 24 hour max, goes-xray-flux

SOLAR FLARE AND RADIO BLACKOUT: Today, Sept. 28th at 1458 UT, a strong M7-class solar flare erupted in the magnetic canopy of sunspot AR2422. Extreme UV radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere and caused a brief low-frequency radio blackout over South America and the Atlantic ocean: blackout map. AR2422 has an unstable 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that could erupt again at any moment. NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of additional M-class solar flares and a 5% chance of X-flares during the next 24 hours.

There was a R1 (Minor) Radio Blackout in recent hours...

CO-ROTATING INTERACTION REGION: NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on Oct. 2nd when a co-rotating interaction region (CIR) is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. CIRs are transition zones between fast- and slow-moving solar wind streams. Solar wind plasma piles up in these regions, producing shock waves that do a good job of sparking auroras.

Sunspot AR2422 is beginning to decay, but it still has a 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. Credit: SDO/HMI

G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) Geomagnetic Storms In Progress
.published: Saturday, November 07, 2015 04:40 UTC

The interplanetary shock that arrived at Earth at 06/1825 UTC (1325 EST) resulted in a disturbed solar wind environment. An enhanced magnetic field, coupled with winds speeds approaching 700 km/s have produced G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storms at Earth. Aurora viewing might be possible in the extreme northern portion of the US.
