The strange case of the “Earth Facing Solar Quiet”
« on: March 13, 2016, 03:58:24 AM »
A VERY strange effect that  is often discussed on by Ben and company is how large sunspot groups when not facing Earth are very active but then become “quite” and spread out and decay as they turn toward earth. It is a strange effect that almost causes one to speculate that some kind of “intelligence” is behind the effect. Below are a couple of articles based on Ben’s work:

Are Aliens Controlling The Sun? | Earth-facing Solar Quiet Effect and Planet-Sized Spheres

The Earth-facing solar quiet effect is a peculiar phenomenon well-documented by solar watchers such as Ben Davidson of

NASA also briefly mentioned the effect in a report from March 2013:

"Something unexpected is happening on the Sun. 2013 was supposed to be the year of "solar maximum," the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle. Yet 2013 has arrived and solar activity is relatively low. Sunspot numbers are well below their values from 2011, and strong solar flares have been infrequent." (emphasis added) - Source

The Earth-facing solar quiet effect is a marked reduction in solar flares, filaments and coronal mass ejections directed towards the Earth. Mainstream science has almost completely avoided mentioning this effect, potentially as it could explain reductions global warming noticed over the past few years.

But what remains clear, is that something unprecedented is happening to our star. This persistent quieting effect does not seem to correlate to planetary alignments that can often influence solar activity. There has been no adequate natural explanation to account for this effect, leaving the door open for unnatural or otherworldly cause…

Is there a difference of the sun's magnetic field detected on earth's surface when facing the sun versus on the other side of the earth?

Yes. There is a pronounced, though not very large, rather quite small but still easily detectible, diurnal variation in the Earth's magnetic field at the surface, with a period of the solar day.

The size of the effect is variable depending on the solar cycle, but in quiet periods it is about 40 nT, or 40 nano-Tesla at maximum amplitude.

This has been known for quite some time, certainly since the early 20th century.

The mechanisms are poorly understood but it's generally thought that it has to do with ionospheric currents induced by the effect of the solar wind.

Sun Appears Eerily 'Quiet' During Period Of Peak Activity

Our sun erupted with activity, sported several sunspots and unleashed massive solar flares just last month in what scientists dubbed a "solar mini max." But now, the sun appears to have gone strangely quiet.

In fact, the side that faces us appeared spotless on July 17 for the first time in almost three years.

That's a bit unusual, given that scientists believe the sun is in solar maximum, a period of peak activity during the sun's roughly 11-year solar cycle. The sun is currently in solar cycle No. 24, since scientists first started tracking sunspot variation in 1755.

"It is weird, but it's not super weird," solar physicist Tony Phillips wrote on his website,, according to the Los Angeles Times. "To have a spotless day during solar maximum is odd, but then again, this solar maximum we are in has been very wimpy."

Phillips first reported low solar activity on July 15, 2014. In days following, he noticed a continuing trend of few sunspots and low X-ray output, which he dubbed the "All Quiet Event.”

–>>  "Only the side facing Earth is 'quiet,'" Young said in the email. "We are so used to thinking only about the side of the sun facing Earth but since the launch of the STEREO spacecraft we see the entire sun and there is activity that we can’t see from Earth."

The “Earth Facing Solar Quite” effect (what ever the cause) has definitely helped protect the Earth (so far) from the potential devastating effects of Solar Radiation Storms..
