From 21 February to 7 March 2018 rare planetary geometry will undoubtedly cause a significant seismic increase, with probably two eartquakes around magnitude 7.8 at least. However, there is the potential for a mega-thrust earthquake with magnitude 8 or even 9, most likely in the first week of March.
Some of the planetary alignments are similar to those that occurred at the time of very large earthquakes, like the 1960 Chilean earthquake (M 9.5), the 1964 Alaska earthquake (M 9.2) and the 2004 Sumatra earthquake (M 9.3).
