Wikipedia on turmeric -

As of December 2013, turmeric is being evaluated for its potential efficacy against several human diseases in clinical trials, including kidney and cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, several types of cancer and irritable bowel disease.[22]

Specifically, turmeric is also being investigated in relation to Alzheimer's disease,[23] diabetes,[24] and other clinical disorders.[25][26]

However, according to various basic research studies,[27][28][29][30] administration of curcumin or turmeric can suppress several stages of cancer development in multiple tumor models.[28] One study of curcumin on human cancer cells in vitro used hybrid molecules with the anti-nausea drug thalidomide to induce apoptosis in myeloma cancer cells.[31] Some research shows compounds in turmeric to have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties; however, curcumin is not one of them.[32]

Curcumin, the active component of tumeric, has also been shown to be a vitamin D receptor ligand "with implications for colon cancer chemoprevention."  Definition of chemoprevention is below:

Cancer chemoprevention is the use of natural, synthetic (made in a laboratory), or biologic (from a living source) substances to reverse, suppress, or prevent the development of cancer.

People will need to figure out "if their body likes" tumeric or not. Maybe this could be done with trial and error, using moderation; muscle testing or even allergy testing
Believe it or not  some people have to watch how much they take and some are allergic.
This article outlines some things to be aware of. It is from an alternative doctor who uses food to cure, and he seems pretty knowledgeable.

The guy writing this probably means well, but notice in the listing of the various health issues, that he admits that some of these preparations are mixed with fillers such as cassava, wheat, etc.  That alone makes the title misleading--for me at least.

He also admits he's referring to some of the "turmeric" he's talking about is actually curcumin which has been removed from the turmeric, and then either sold alone, or mixed with other ingredients.

Turmeric itself has been ingested daily in India for thousands of years, both alone, and as well as part of "curry powder" and of all the Indian doctors I once knew, none ever talked about taking pills which contained curcumin, or some mix.  They cooked with turmeric and/or curry powder daily.

It is a good idea to test any new thing in your diet for allergenicity, but he talks about taking turmeric in excess, but provides no information about what is too much.

Sayer Ji's website, greenmedinfo.com has a database of 5,760 articles on turmeric alone.  Greenmedinfo.com is based on actual scientific research which took years to accumulate and collate into such a collection.  Mr. Ji said he nearly ruined his eyesight in those years he was amassing the thousands and thousands of articles from PUBMED and other sources.

So, for someone wanting more information of turmeric, greenmedinfo.com is the place to go.
